Wedding FAQs

You've got questions and I've got answers. Take a look through these popular FAQs and if you don't see your answer here, please do contact me and I'll be sure to answer right away.

You must have a PEI marriage license before you can be legally married in PEI - regardless of where you live (on or off Island). You are required to attend a meeting no sooner than 90 days prior to your wedding. At this appointment, both parties must be present and you must present all required documents. There is no blood work required and there is no waiting period after you get your license. There is no residency requirement. Your license is issued at the appointment provided you have the necessary documents and pay the fee. Note: you must apply to Vital Statistics to get your certificate.

You are not expected to invite me to any reception or festivities related to the wedding. If invited, while I appreciate the gesture, I generally decline.

I have different fees for different kinds of ceremonies. Please contact me and I’ll be happy to check my availability and to give you a quote. A non-refundable deposit is required upon booking to confirm my officiating services. The balance is due one week prior to your ceremony date.

Yes! For an additional fee, I can organize to have witnesses provided for you.

Absolutely! Where your ceremony takes place is entirely up to you. I can perform ceremonies in parks, yards, restaurants, homes, gardens, and beside the ocean. I'm flexible and happy to accommodate your dreams and wishes.

Absolutely! Love is love. :)

Absolutely! Your wedding ceremony is unique to you and working with you, I can customize it to ensure it is just what you envision. Sand ceremonies, rose ceremonies, incorporation of blended family members, and hand-fasting ceremonies, among other ideas, are all potential possibilities for you. I LOVE uniquely themed weddings. We can discuss this when we meet.

Yes! In addition to writing your perfect wedding ceremony, I can help each of you write your own vows.

Of course! Absolutely. I encourage you to do so. As long as you adhere to the two legal questions according to the Marriage Act of Prince Edward Island - we can include (or not) any other elements that you wish.

Yes! I am willing to go anywhere on PEI. Depending on how far away your venue is located, there may be additional fees for my travel costs. We can discuss this when we meet.

The question is what do YOU want me to wear? I can wear a dress in a neutral colour, or, if you prefer, I can match your theme in both colour and style. I LOVE themed weddings and dressing up (costumes? Oh yes!!). If you want me to wear a costume of some sort, you will need to provide it. We can discuss when we meet.

The answer is...it depends. It all depends on how many guests there are and where the ceremony venue is located. I am very happy to not use a sound system for smaller weddings, however, I do prefer to use a sound system as I believe it’s important for your guests to be able to hear what is being said. Ultimately, in the end, this is up to you – rental and setup of the sound system is your responsibility.

While I am not a wedding planner, I can most definitely help you find the perfect venue and connect you with other vendors. We can discuss your needs when we meet and I'll let you know where I can help.

If you still have questions, contact me and I'll be sure to answer as soon as possible.
